The Director is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and administering the Presidential Library system. This position is responsible for the oversight of all Presidential Libraries, including the archival, museum, public and education programs, the oversight of the budget, staffing, and facility components of the Library system, and ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of the Libraries with Agency policy and Federal regulations.

As a Director, Office of Presidential Libraries, you will:
- Ensure coordination of the system of Presidential Libraries within the National Archives, coordinating efforts among the Library Directors and the Agency's senior leadership.
- Formulate policies, procedures, and guides for the administration and management of the Presidential library system.
- Plan for the development and establishment of proposed libraries and new library operational models for present and future Presidents in close coordination with the White House and other interested parties.
- Serve as personal representative of the Archivist of the United States in conducting negotiations with outstanding figures in American political life, such as present and former Ambassadors, Cabinet members, heads of executive agencies, Members of Congress, and key assistants and family members of former Presidents regarding the deposit of their personal papers in the libraries, to supplement personal papers and other historical Presidential materials.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Mandatory Qualifications Requirements: To meet minimum qualifications, applicants must possess the following technical and executive core competencies. These competencies would typically be gained through experience, education, and training that reflects progressive development and achievement in managing a Federal legal program for a nationwide organization or equivalent in the private sector. An individual's total experience and education must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience must be at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-15 level in Federal Service.
