The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Provides expert advice to management and staff on proper usage of the English language as well as principles, practices, methods, and techniques of creative writing and editing.
- Be responsible for writing, editing and managing written materials for use in communicating information about TIGTA and its activities to a variety of external audiences, including the media, Congress, and other external stakeholders, including the general public.
- Interpret complex concepts and themes in documents prepared by TIGTA staff, reconciling contradictions in the information presented and using expository narrative to develop balanced treatments of controversial matters in the presentation of conflicting points of views.
- Conduct research to develop authoritative information on the programs, polices, and functions of the agency, the relationship among agency programs, and related issues.
- Ensure that work products meet the appropriate techniques, methodologies, terminology, and guidelines provided by the TIGTA Executive Secretariat, GPO and Associated Press style guides and the Chicago Manual of Style by reviewing and editing these documents for proper format, grammar punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure, and use of vocabulary consistent with the aforementioned standards.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
