The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Responsible for advising office leadership and staff on all matters associated with the management and operations of the Office.
-Establishes protocols or requirements for conduct of projects, evidence management, and team governance. Formulates and recommends policies, procedures, and standards to promote more effective and efficient operations.
-Works in an integrated manner with project teams composed of lawyers, investigators, analysts and subject matter experts to plan, manage, conduct, and participate in high profile, time-sensitive investigative review projects that are of special interest to VA stakeholders, including Congress, veterans, and the public. These projects may include administrative investigations, inspections, reviews, evaluations, or other oversight methods as directed by the Office's Assistant Inspector General and/or Deputy Assistant Inspector General. These projects may also involve assessing VA program effectiveness on a national scale, which may result in the formulation and adoption of recommendations and policies with nationwide impact. Leads and conducts investigations and addresses matters involving violations of laws or regulations. Under the direct supervision of agency attorneys, delivers legal guidance as it relates to investigative review projects.
-Serves as a recognized technical authority in all Office program areas for oversight, coordination, reviewing, and monitoring projects, conducting reviews, and updating and revising policies and procedures.
-Performs sensitive duties and assignments of importance to the Inspector General and functions with a high degree of independence, flexibility, and resourcefulness to complete multiple and varied assignments on short deadlines.
