This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-13 GS-12. At theGS-11 & GS-12 GS-11, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-13 GS-12. The Incumbent performs the following major duties and responsibilities:
Develops short-term and long-term public relations strategies and implements tactics to promote national programs to internal and external staff, Veterans, corporate sponsors, members of congress and other stakeholders. Develops a toolkit specifically for public affairs roles and responsibilities for national events which are used by teams in the field.
Writes, reviews, edits staging and scripts for ceremonies assists with celebrity recruitment; mediates negotiations between VSO sponsors and VA concerning all print products, social media and advanced media plan; and provides execution and oversight of approved communications plan and other national responsibilities under an approved timetable for events.
Execute public affairs responsibilities under negotiated media plan; and executes advance work needed for news releases and daily newsletter for events. Evaluates post event reporting of public affairs functions at each event and makes recommendation to program leadership.
