Serves as a technical expert in classifying positions covered by the General Schedule (GS), Federal Wage System, and SI Trust pay schedules.
Exercises delegated classification authority to analyze, develop evaluation statements, and classify a variety of positions to the proper title, series, and grade.
Resolves difficult and complex position management and position classification issues involving a variety of professional, administrative, technical, clerical, and wage grade jobs.
Provides management advisory services on conducting desk audits, proposed reorganizations, position management, and other classification issues or problems.
Explores alternative courses of action with management in an attempt to satisfy management needs while adhering to sound classification and position management principles.
Reviews and drafts new or proposed classification, wage administration, and position management policies, procedures, and guidelines for SI-wide use.
Qualification requirements, including one year time-in-grade at the next lower grade level for promotion candidates, must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.

EXPERIENCE
Grade 13 - You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level. For this position specialized experience is defined as experience as (1) experience classifying position descriptions for General Schedule and Federal Wage Grade positions, (2)providing technical guidance to management in the area of classification and position management, 3) analyzing and interpreting classification regulations to resolve issues and make recommendation to leadership.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the average number of hours per week spent in such employment.
