Title 32 CAT 1- All on board Federal Employees/Technicians within the ALARNG (T32 and T5, Permanent and Excepted Indefinite) CAT 2- Current Army M-Day and Temporary Technicians within ALARNG CAT 3- Applicants willing to become NG T32 DS Technicians and gain ALARNG membership, all current federal employees, all U.S. Citizens
1. Provides dive operations maintenance support during training exercise and actual operations serving as on-site technical specialist and advisor. Assists personnel with fitting and adjustment of open-circuit and closed-circuit breathing apparatus. Inspects and insures that personnel and equipment items are correctly outfitted, attached, activated and adjusted.
2. Inspects, overhauls, modifies, fits, assembles, repair and replace various types of dive equipment and dive systems such as: recirculation assembly, pneumatics assembly, equipment case assembly, harness assembly, demand valve, oxygen cylinders and bottles, CO2 scrubber assembly; pressure gages, regulators and hoses; SCUBA cylinder manifolds and reserve "J" valve, supply valve, rotary valve, O-rings, breathing bag and fiberglass components.
3. Cleans pneumatic assembly and all components associated with oxygen service utilizing oxygen safe cleaning procedures. Cleans and sterilizes SCUBA breathing apparatus.
4. Tests configuration setup, pressure gage, pressure regulator. Performs hydrostatic tests on oxygen cylinders. Conducts procedure tests. Calibrates and repairs pressure regulator.
5. Charges oxygen bottles. Removes oxygen cylinder and supply valve assembly and records oxygen cylinder pressure. Uses and operates a variety of test, diagnostic and calibration equipment.
6. Complies with Reentry Control (REC) procedures and documentation requirements. Performs pre-dive setup and check. Accomplishes post-dive maintenance.
7. Inventories and issues dive equipment to using units. Provides technical assistance for dive operations.
8. Performs organizational and limited direct support maintenance on outboard motors.
9. Performs organizational maintenance on rubber boats, checks boat compartments, replaces or repairs valves and replaces metal, rubber and rope parts. Performs preventative services.
10. Adheres to all DOD and OHSA hazardous material and safety rules, regulations and requirements.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military grade in the Alabama Army National Guard. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least 18 months experience in the following, must have the ability to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test, and calibrate a variety of instruments and equipment related to underwater dive equipment. Must have a thorough knowledge for a wide rang of complex underwater breathing equipment and of dive procedures. Applies sound judgment in the selection of repair techniques and achieving specified accuracies and tolerances. Must be able to interpret and apply the requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, manufacturers specifications, and other documents while repairing, testing, and calibrating equipment. Also, required to use a variety of specialty tools and test equipment specific to the type of equipment repaired and serviced.
