The incumbent researches, compiles, and maintains data for all equipment applicable to assigned NAS systems. Based on analysis data, incumbent recommends specific course of remedial action relative to usage, repair, acquisition, supply and disposal. Manages unique, complex or obsolete items applicable to Radar equipment, which require technical decisions to determine and initiate appropriate supply support actions, including acquisition, repair, disposal, and response to customer needs. Establishes and maintains an awareness of critical items used in the NAS systems for which technical support responsibility is assigned. Utilizes this knowledge, including general stock position and location, to satisfy emergency requirements outside of normal duty hours. Assures responses to requests for technical documentation required by supply management personnel are provided in a timely manner consistent with published standards, procedures, and program/organization goals and objectives.
Monitors requests forwarded to other organizations for completion and follows up on suspense dates that are not met. This includes requests for technical data records, drawings and specifications, item substitution, alternate part numbers and supply sources, excess, survey recommendations, unit price verifications, etc. Participates in the development of equipment identification and quantitative requirements for support of all new or modified equipment/systems within the NAS systems assigned to the incumbent for technical support. This includes participation in provisioning, retro provisioning, or leapfrog activities. Provides technical advice and assistance to field activities, supply management personnel, and others engaged in the logistics support of assigned NAS systems.
Attends conferences and meetings with various organizational elements to render technical opinions and recommendations for improvement of design, configuration, and service life of equipment/systems. Maintains extensive liaison with commercial and military activities concerning equipment availability through general schedule (GS) contracts and/or interagency support agreements. Performs technical analysis of equipment/system support requirements and provides commends/recommendations to support plans. Budget proposals, equipment modification or replacement efforts, provisioning activities and special projects.
Accomplishes comprehensive studies of programs related to inventory management functions for assigned NAS systems and recommends actions to prevent adverse impacts on system operation and support capability. Performs a mixture of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team. May perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs/teams.
Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Typical assignments may include: limited system development; collecting, recording and analyzing data/information; identifying problems; performing investigation and inspection activities; part establishment, locating vendors, data processing loads (LCSS), Gathering Quotes, finance data, purchasing parts, and initiating compliance and enforcement actions.
Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish assignments and small projects. Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit, major subdivision, and LOB/SO, with some contact with customers and external organizations.
