The incumbent performs a wide variety of complex biological science technical support functions in one or more of the following program areas: wildlife, fisheries, or plants. Assists in the planning and implementation of wildlife censuses and surveys and recommends wildlife management practices. Assists professional staff in planning field research and resource monitoring programs for evaluating rare, threatened and endangered wildlife species, population dynamics, ecosystem relationships and public health/safety issues. Monitors and assists in the management of wildlife. Assists in the planning and conducting of biological aquatic surveys to obtain information of fish, amphibians, macro invertebrates, and aquatic ecosystems and for the determination, establishment and application of biological facts, techniques and procedures for protecting and restoring aquatic resources. Conducts surveillance to help detect invasion and new colonization by non-native fish species. May operate a variety of field equipment commonly used in fishery studies, including small watercraft (up to 28 feet in length), fish sampling gear including trawls, nets and electrofishing equipment.
