Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the design and construction of civil works structures or systems using established criteria or specifications, monitoring civil works projects and resources, or identifying problems and recommending corrective action to civil works projects. The Dam and Levee Safety Program has a huge impact on state and local governments, the environment, and American people living up- and downstream of these projects. This is an exciting opportunity to enter the Dam & Levee Safety field at the ground level. You will have the opportunity to travel across the U.S. to see construction projects for large dam safety modifications. You will also have the opportunity to work side by side with a variety of national experts within various disciplines. Therefore, you must be available to travel for long durations while in this position. We estimate that you will be in a travel status up to 75% of your first 3 years. After your training program is completed, you may be placed in a permanent position within the Dam and Levee Safety program.
