Basic requirement: To qualify at any grade level, applicants must have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major or equivalent in psychology.
In addition, applicants must meet the applicable grade-specific requirements described below.
To qualify at GS-09, you must have at least 1 year of specialized experience where you have assisted higher level colleagues with some guidance and coaching on projects involving the application of the models and theories of industrial and organizational psychology. Examples of specialized experience include an ability to draft and revise questionnaire items and working in areas such as competency gap analysis, employee selection, employee and/or management training, organizational development, organizational effectiveness, performance management, statistical analysis, test and measurement, etc. This experience must have been equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal Service;
OR
You must have a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in, or related to, I/O Psychology or Personnel Psychology; OR
You must have a combination of graduate level education and appropriate specialized experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at GS-11, you must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience involving the application of the models/theories of industrial/organizational psychology, including the application of psychometrics, statistical analyses, & research methodology and working as part of a team member under direct supervision and guidance. Examples of specialized experience may include contributing to a project or task related to The design and implementation of training (face to face or online); A robust project, program and/or course evaluation such as training needs analysis or leadership development program evaluation; or The development of effective assessment tools such as performance place, selection measures or a 360 degree survey for individuals & organizations. OR
You must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent in I/O Psychology, Personnel Psychology, etc.; OR
You must have a combination of graduate level education beyond the first 2 years of progressively higher graduate study and appropriate specialized experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position, if related.
