The incumbent serves as the Supervisory Librarian for the Medical Library in the Education Services at the Orlando VA Medical Center. The Supervisory Librarian is delegated full responsibility for the administration, management and operation of the Medical Library. The incumbent establishes the scope and extent of the library programs and the services through the development of policies and operating procedures, library budget, and effective utilization of personnel, equipment and space.

As the Supervisory Librarian, the incumbent manages, evaluates and plans knowledge -based information resources and services for medical center clientele that is timely and relevant to their needs. Applies knowledge to modify standard library practices and techniques related to acquisition of a wide variety of library materials, adapts automated systems and make significant departure from previous practice to resolve issues related to access, dissemination and delivery. Plans, evaluates and implements electronic strategies to enhance and/or accomplish new tasks or improve medical library functions for staff. The incumbent has specialized skills in knowledge management to determine services and products to be pursued by the facility and to ensure that products and services support the facility-wide goals and initiatives and maximize efficiencies.
