As a Human Resources Specialist in the Alaskan Region HR Services Division, AHF-W100. The position works under the guidance of I-Band HR Specialists in the department to provide operational and advisory human resource management services in the areas of staffing, recruitment, position management, performance awards and succession planning for Alaskan Region positions. The Specialist performs a combination of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.
The HR Specialist demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish work tasks, projects and to serve as an advisor/consultant to managers, employees and job applicants on AHR policies and procedures.
Applies experience and detailed knowledge of recruitment and placement. Typical assignments include: providing authoritative advice to managers and employees regarding recruitment and placement activities; collecting and analyzing data information; conducting research; applying policies and procedures; identifying problems; and working with higher level and lower level professionals in day-to-day operations.
Duties also include preparing vacancy announcements; performing job analysis; rating and ranking applications for a variety of positions; adjudicating veterans’ preference; issuing certificates of eligible applicants to selecting officials; applies Veteran's Preference and issues referral lists in accordance with OPM and FAA policies and guidelines.
Processes various personnel actions; preparing or completing necessary documents and case files on personnel actions; managing case files to include input and update in workload database; closing out merit promotion and recruitment files; and participating in projects and developing reports.

TO QUALIFY FOR PAY BAND F: To qualify for this position at the FV-F level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least three years of progressively responsible general experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, recognize solutions, plan and organize work and convey information, with at least one year equivalent to the FG/GS-4 level.
General experience could have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) necessary to perform the duties of this position. Experience of a general nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non-specialized tasks) is not creditable.
TO QUALIFY FOR PAY BAND G: To qualify for this position at the FV-G level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, FV-F or FG/GS 5-9.
