The incumbent serves as the Air-Conditioning Equipment Mechanic and Operator for the main plant and ancillary campus buildings and systems. The Operator may control areas served by the central plant. Buildings include offices, hospital, long term care, research, vivarium, laboratories, data rooms, clean rooms, operating rooms, sterile processing, and pharmacy areas with specialized and complex systems. The Air-Conditioning Equipment Operator can control the separate zones from a master control panel, i.e., select the operating temperatures, humidification, outside air percentage, start and stop fans, and check zone temperatures, or may perform the same functions from local switches and gauges at the equipment site. Operation of the plant requires knowledge and judgment on the part of the operator in order to take compressors or absorbers, pumps, and air handlers, roof top air handlers, exhaust fans, cooling tower and, etc., off line or to place additions ones on line, to meet load requirements, and to log readings for the various zones and chillers or absorbers that are in operation.
NOTE: This is a full-time,TEMPORARY(not-to-exceed 13 months) position and funding will expire on 9/30/2021. This appointment may be renewed for additional service in accordance with Agency needs and budget. The appointment to a temporary position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment
Work Schedule: M-F, some weekends. Shift work as determined by supervisor.
