The Charlie Norwood VAMC is currently recruiting for the position of a Rural Telehealth Physical Therapist. This position falls under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor in the Medical Rehabilitation Service. The position will include providing PT care via a virtual care platform, as well as, some care in an outpatient setting.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Patient scheduling request are submitted in a manner as to not negatively impact other clinical staff yet meet the patient's needs.
Performs evaluations and assessments of medical/surgical conditions in the Outpatient and Inpatient populations, to include specialized diagnostic test and evaluations.
Patient medical records are reviewed to assess appropriateness of physical therapy intervention, noting any potential risks or contraindications to treatment.
Evaluations include medical history, results and interpretation of appropriate functional tests and measurements. Tests may need to be adapted because of complex disabilities to determine level of function using standardized and non-standardized tests.
Evaluations address rehabilitation potential, behavior, motor skills, and psycho-social development at an age appropriate level. Barriers to learning are identified and strategies to overcome them developed and implemented to ensure accurate patient evaluation.
Reviews and analysis the effectiveness of treatments and develops new treatment programs which apply current research and evidence-based practice.
Assists/encourages other Physical Therapy staff in same.Demonstrates a full professional understanding of the theories or treatment of physical therapy and their proper application using therapeutic physical rehabilitation and reconditioning procedures.
Modifies treatment plan according to patient response to best meet established goals.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA.
