Typically acts as a member of a team for assigned projects/programs within a defined area of responsibility. Acts as a member of a team for resolving inventory control problems that impact the valuation of the Logistics Center inventory. Performance of assigned duties will reduce unnecessary charges to the customer. Stays alert to changing customer needs and challenges, seeking and using customer feedback and suggestions to enhance effectiveness. Compiles and analyzes information and statistics relative to assigned items and applicable NAS systems/equipment, reporting problems and proposing resolutions which conform to stated goals and objectives.
Applies basic knowledge applicable to forecasting, monitoring, coordinating and control of assigned inventory items required for the effective and efficient maintenance and operation of the NAS. Monitors supply support effectiveness and resolves problems with assigned items utilizing appropriate regulations and procedures. Identifies and initiates alternate supply support methods which are consistent with program plans and applicable policies.
Applies basic knowledge applicable to proper identification and documentation of misidentified items received by the Distribution Center. Monitors and identifies the correction of inventory records for all classes of inventory and all products received by the Logistics Center in any receipt category. Identification and resolution coordination and documentation are completed through email and phone communication with all product division inventory managers, as well as, the Customer Service Action (CSA} database. Assists higher-level professionals in day-to-day operations. Coordinates with manager or more experienced professional to plan time and use assigned resources to accomplish tasks.
Required to regularly interface with internal and external customers to complete work assignments. Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and to discuss the status. Coordinates establishment of "due-in" to the inventory record with the appropriate product division when necessary. Works under short time constraints to ensure actions are processed quickly and inventory records are corrected accurately in a timely manner.
Plans for the acquisition and maintenance of inventory for assigned items using a variety of methods, techniques and criteria that assures customer requirements will be met timely and with high quality products and service. May assist higher-level personnel in the preparation of contract bid packages by gathering historical information on demand rates, failure rates, or other support requirements. Assists higher-level personnel that serve as COR for existing contracts.
Established policies/procedures provide detailed guidance for almost all assignments, with little or no room for discretion. Works under detailed instructions provided by the manager or more experienced professional/leader. Regularly refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional for guidance. Work is reviewed regularly during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and all aspects of quality.
Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist performing basic (but progressively more difficult) assignments under the close direction of the manager or more experienced professional/leader.
QUALIFICATIONS: Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position at the FV-F level (GS/FG 5-9), you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least 3 years of progressively responsible general work experience, with at least 1 year equivalent to the FG/GS-4 level that demonstrates the ability to: 1) Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2) Plan and organize work; and 3) Communicate effectively.

EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, gained from an accredited college or university.
