The Nursing Assistant (NA) will work within the Patient Care Service Line (PCSL) within the Community Living Center (CLC) and is an integral part of a team of nurses that provide care to long term care residents, end of life hospice veterans, and veterans with specific rehabilitation or skilled needs for a limited time frame. The CLC nurse aide is responsible for maintaining unit specific competencies to ensure safety and quality of care is provided to residents.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Identifies environmental safety hazards and takes immediate action to resolve issues within a specific scope.
-Adheres to the Cheyenne VAMC Time and Leave Policy and assists others with entering leave requests.
-Completes required documentation timely and accurately with minimal or no guidance; able to assist other staff members with required documentation.
-Provides 1:1 observation for veterans who are safety risks (within one arm's length of the patient), to include but not limited to: Having Suicidal/Homicidal ldeations, High Fall Risk, Veteran pulling on or trying to remove, essential medical equipment, Impulsive behavior that may lead to injury.
-Performs specific patient related tasks independently and provides assistance to co-workers.
-Assists patient with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene and daily nourishment independently and provides assistance to co-workers.
-Treats self, patients, family and others with respect and dignity is able to effectively intervene when there is a difficult situation.
-Listens to patient and family needs/concerns. Reports them to the charge nurse and will take immediate action within specific scope to meet the patient's needs/concerns.
-Works within a collaborative team to achieve veteran centric goals and provides feedback regarding the patient's progress toward goals.
-Seeks opportunities to increase knowledge and skill.
-Completes mandatory and additional TMS training in addition to the required training and electronic competencies/certifications.
-Conducts the orientation of new employees and students on an independent basis.
-Participates in unit specific staff meetings and in-services, providing feedback and suggestions during meetings.
