The Occupational Therapist is a member of the Caregiver Support Team (CSP) at the Carl Vinson VAMC. The CSP Team is responsible for reviewing complex Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) eligibility cases for admission, ongoing level of care adjustments, and discharge appropriateness. The CSP is also responsible for adjudicating PCAFC applicant, providing clinical evidence-based services, interventions, and support to Caregivers and Veterans.

The Occupational Therapist serves as the subject matter expert and consultant to the CSP and medical staff at Carl Vinson VAMC. The incumbent serves as the rehabilitation therapy liaison to an interdisciplinary team in complex rehabilitation setting; leads and organizes delivery of services to assure continuity and peer accountability for practice; applies advanced discipline's clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating PCAFC eligibility; responsible for expert knowledge of eligibility criteria for the PCAFC, day-to-day operation of the program, and all reporting requirements within the caregiver support program; performs a wide range of services, collaborating with interdisciplinary members to make eligibility determinations, tier level determinations, discharges, and appeals for the PCAFC; conducts comprehensive clinical review of patient records to identify the presence of Veteran need for assistance with personal care services and/or supervision or protection needs daily; analyzes data obtained in record review for use in determining clinical eligibility for PCAFC; conducts Peer Reviews to ensure national consistency in eligibility determinations; executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care; provides professional consultation based on occupational therapist expertise involved in the caregiver program and monitors and evaluates clinically needs of the Veteran and Caregiver and make appropriate recommendations and referrals
