Serves as the principle office assistant to the Director of Contracting (DoC), Deputy Director of Contracting (DDoC), and to the staff of the Network Contracting Office (NCO). Ensures that the different and varied administrative support functions for which responsible are handled in a manner to enhance the efficiency of the NCO as a whole. Prepares correspondence, statistical graphs, logs, reports in final form, ensures correct punctuation, capitalization, spelling, grammar and that suspense dates are met. Maintains smooth flow of oral and written communications; follow up on time commitments, data, and special projects coming into the NCO from diverse groups. Receives calls, answers routine requests and refers phone calls. Assists with travel requirements which may include visits to field facilities and various sites throughout the VISN (Veterans Integrated Service Network) for staff meetings, appearances before veterans' groups, national and VISN committee meetings, management seminars and professional education. Receives significant amounts of incoming department directives, handbooks, information letters, and other official information. Serves as the principal timekeeper for time and attendance. Gathers, inputs, and organizes data from available information systems from field programs whose data are not captured on established or real-time systems. Provides administrative and technical support to the NCO. Assists with confidential and sensitive contracting or personnel matters that are brought to the attention of the Director of Contracting or to higher level Network management. Performs other related duties as assigned.
