The employee will perform a full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area following general instructions on the work to be done, including the following:Performs custodial/janitorial duties such as cleaning, sanitizing, restocking restrooms, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and emptying trash and recyclables.Scrubs and polishes floors using power scrubbers and buffers.Washes walls and sidewalk areas using hoses, pressure washers or by hand.Vacuums/cleans rugs, carpets, etc. using vacuum and carpet cleaners.Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments.Moves furniture, supplies, and equipment.Occasionally works on ladders or lifts to change light bulbs, wash walls, etc.Keep shop areas clean and in order.On a regular and recurring basis operates light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks, 5 yard dump trucks, etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sited located on the park.Assists higher graded employees in other maintenance needs of buildings or grounds.
Grand Teton National Park area information: Located in northwestern Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway preserves a spectacular landscape rich with majestic mountains, pristine lakes, and extraordinary wildlife. The abrupt vertical rise of the jagged Teton Range contrasts with the sage-covered valley, creating world-renowned scenery that attracts visitors from all over the world.
These positions are being filled in Moose or Colter Bay, Wyoming. Nearby Jackson is a small, outdoor recreation focused community of 10,000 year round residents. The town caters to four million tourists every summer, has an excellent hospital, a well-respected school system, multiple grocery stores, excellent restaurants, and seasonal music and art festivals. Outdoor activities include hiking, camping, backpacking, horseback riding, boating, rafting, kayaking, cycling, mountain biking, world class fly fishing, climbing, and mountaineering. Summer temperatures are comfortable, with highs between 65 - 80 degrees. Government housing may be available.
Yellowstone National Park area information: Positions may be located at any of several locations within Yellowstone National Park. Most locations are 40-50 miles from the nearest gateway community with services (grocery stores, motels, restaurants, medical offices). Medical clinics are available in Mammoth Hot Springs, Lake Village, and Old Faithful. Park Headquarters is located at Mammoth Hot Springs, elevation 6200 feet. Elevation at the various duty stations range from 5300 feet to 7800 feet. Temperatures in the park vary from 70º to sub-zero at times in the winter. Dormitory housing may be available at some locations.
Glacier National Park Area Information: West Glacier, Montana has seasonal food and gas services. All services are available in Columbia Falls (17 miles), Kalispell (32 miles) or Whitefish (28 miles). Government housing may be available. Seasonal employees occupying government housing are not permitted to have pets. Additional information on Glacier National Park is available at: www.nps.gov/glacSt. Mary, Montana has seasonal food and gas services. Most amenities are available in Browning (35 miles). Medical facilities are available in Browning and Cardston, Alberta, Canada (31 miles). Government housing may be available. There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

Physical Demands: Moderately heavy physical effort is required when: using ladder and scaffolds to clean walls, ceilings, windows, ceiling fixtures, etc.; operating powered equipment; removing cans of or other containers of trash; and occasionally lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas, which normally have adequate, heat, light, and ventilation. Is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds and when using heavy powered equipment. Occasionally works outdoors in possible inclement weather conditions and/or extreme temperatures.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
