Responsibility for final approval of designs of major structures and facilities involving public safety where such compliance with State laws meets an essential need of the engineering organization to provide objective evidence to agency management and the public that the work is performed by engineers of proven competence. Responsibility for engineering determinations concerning contracts awards or other major aspects of design and construction work to be performed by engineers in the private sector, where registration is essential to have their full confidence and respect to achieve cooperation on critical engineering issues.
Coordinates projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects. Applies knowledge of other disciplines to determine coordination required to ensure all design considerations have been addressed.
Coordinates the preparation of and reviews A&E statements of work (SOW). Provides standards and criteria for specialized, difficult, or unusual facility requirements. Reviews preliminary and final engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates of A&E firms or other government agencies to ensure design excellence and compliance with specifications. Serves on A&E boards and acts as the technical representative to the contracting officer in negotiation and administration of design contracts. May be involved in construction contract source selection boards. May act as a technical expert for the contracting officer to dispute claims resolution for contract work.
Performs work in construction management, programming/base development, and/or operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Monitors/manages construction projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities from start to finish, including the performance of preconstruction site surveys all the way to the completion of as-built drawings. Performs requirements programming in support of base development for O&M, military construction program (MCP), non-appropriated fund (NAF), military family housing (MFH),etc., to include validating requirements, performing economic analyses, and coordinating with the installation facilities board. Performs a wide range of engineering duties surrounding O&M functions to encompass the maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operation of a variety of infrastructure facilities and utilities.
Will monitor, oversee and coordinate all maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines. Services lines, breakers, disconnect switches, transformers, insulators, grounding systems, fuses, poles (metal and wood), relays, meters, lightning arresters, cathodic protection
systems, traffic lights, street and floodlight systems, airfield lighting systems, and power supplies.. Will develop oversee and approve all switching orders for overhead and underground electrical distribution lines.
