As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will accomplish routine and emergency repair, evaluation and installation of plants and structures, and facilities to include environmental systems, radar, communication and navigational aid antenna systems. You will work alone or as part of a group performing mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, cable installation/replacement, welding/metal fabrication and painting. This position requires knowledge and application of materials; and safety and security regulations, practices and procedures. You will work from blueprints, work orders, plans, sketches and other written specifications and oral instructions. You must be able to maintain, repair and use a variety of hand tools, testing equipment and power equipment characteristic of the various trades. You must be able to operate diesel/gasoline powered heavy equipment such as trenchers, backhoes and front end loaders.
To qualify, no specific length of experience or training is required; however, you must show evidence of experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a journey person Maintenance Mechanic in your resume. This position requires knowledge, skill and abilities in various trades of work such as mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, welding/metal fabrication, painting and general knowledge of electronics and equipment. Your resume must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility appropriate to the position to be filled.

Physical Effort: The position requires strenuous manual labor. Workers make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. Work requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Considerable lifting, pulling and carrying of heavy materials equipment, and tools. Must be able to physically climb towers up to 300 feet in height and poles 90 feet in height.
Working Conditions: The work is performed both inside and outside during all kinds of weather, varying from 120 degrees to -20 degrees F. Workers are required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes; and in close quarters such as crawl spaces and manholes. Subject to danger of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, cuts, bruises, inhalation of paint and herbicide fumes and hazards of using chemicals and rotary devices. Physical exertion is required in setting up and taking down scaffolding. Working conditions elevation may vary from sea level to 12,000 feet.
