To minimally qualify for this position, applicants must meet the two criteria below:
I. Basic Requirement in A, B, or C below:
A. Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; for example, international relations or political science. (Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study with at least 24 semester hours of behavioral or social science courses); or
B. Combination of education and experience that provides knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; or
C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
II. Specialized Experience described below:
Specialized Experience: One full-time year (12-months) of specialized experience at, or equivalent to Grade 12 (relative to federal and market standards): (1) conducting original research in international history for publication; (2). managing and promoting programmatic initiatives to the public; (3). developing, cultivating, and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; (4). conducting program evaluation to recommend changes and/or improvements; and (5). leading teams and providing work and performance feedback.
Note: The “relative market standards” is defined based on the knowledge required to do the work, complexity of the work performed, independence in conducting the work, and regular/recurring contacts.
An advanced degree in (i.e., PhD) in history or political science is highly desirable.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
