Reports to the Operations Support Group Flight Procedures Office Team Manager. Performs work independently resolving potentially controversial or sensitive issues. Results of work performed are considered technically authoritative and conclusions and recommendations are accepted. Serves as technical specialist with full responsibility for planning, sequencing, directing, and evaluating assigned projects related to the National Airspace System (NAS). Provides technical direction and oversight for large-project implementation such as Optimization of Airspace and Procedures in the Metroplex (OAPM). Serves as the principal advisor to the OSG Team Manager and for activities of large-project team members. Establishes and maintains effective communications with the aviation industry; with regions, centers and other FAA offices; and with other affected departments and agencies of government, both foreign and domestic, in an effort to further the understanding, support and coordination of assigned program responsibilities. Maybe required to perform duties as they relate to one or more of the following program areas: Design, development and maintenance of Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs) and related publications; Coordination and integration of IFPs in the NAS; Collection and verification of aeronautical data. Recommend and qualify airports for development, amendment, and cancellation of instrument approach procedures. Accomplishes regional airspace and airport airspace analysis (AAA) studies to determine proposal's effect on the NAS. Applies knowledge of FAA's policies and objectives to identify, define, and organize work for multiple work activities. Serves as technical advisor within incumbents assigned program area. Provides advice, counsel or instruction on work matters. Identifies potential issues and proposes recommendations for preventive action. Assures that activities are efficiently carried out and that program objectives are being effectively accomplished. Assures uniformity and consistency of performance and adherence to national and regional policies, standards, systems, and procedures. Applies knowledge of specific Terminal and EnRoute Procedures (TERPS).
Reference - OPM Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions in conjunction with Individual Occupational Requirements for 1361: Navigational Information Series. To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FV-I level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Such experience must have involved the design and development of Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs); coordination and integration of IFPs in NAS; collecting and verifying aeronautical data; and applying knowledge of specific Terminal and EnRoute Procedures (TERPS) criteria and knowledge of FAA policies and objectives with the Instrument Flight Procedures Program.
