Specialized Experience
For GG-7 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal services. Such experience included assisting with designing, developing, maintaining software applications, debugging and/or troubleshooting problems related to computer systems. Experience assisting with customizing and developing or acquiring software applications using languages such as Java, C++ or others, Linux, and Shell Script.
OR
Education: 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.
For GG-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal services.Such experience consisted of work that involves the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation and support of new and existing applications software. Experience communicating technical information in person and in writing to a variety of audiences; experience customizing and developing/or acquiring software applications using languages such as Java, C++ or others, Linux, and Shell Script.
OR
Education: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.
For GG-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal services. Experience developing methodologies application and creating requirements for software development for new applications and enhancements to existing applications; Experience in developing complex and detailed sequences of internal program logic with various programming languages and database platforms and analyze data to meet software development requirements; and experience reflects attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Experience customizing and developing or acquiring software applications using languages such as Java, C++ or others, Linux, and Shell Script.

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
For GG-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal services. Experience in planning, analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, configuration, integrating, maintenance testing, operational integrity, and/or management of software systems. Extensive experience with various programming languages and database platforms. Experience in developing complex and detailed sequences of internal program logic and analyzing the feasibility of the software development for new applications and enhancements to existing applications; extensive experience developing prototypes or pilot programs and eliciting and documenting system requirements. Experience providing information technology analytical and developmental support for software applications using languages such as Java, C++ or others, Linux, and Shell Script.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
