This is a career development opportunity in the excepted service under the Bureau of Reclamation Recent Graduate Pathways Program. This position may be filled at the GS-07 or GS-09 grade level. After completion of the required training period, meeting all of the requirements of a specialized participant agreement, meeting all of the OPM qualification requirements for the position, and receiving a favorable recommendation from management, the individual selected for this position may be converted to a term, career or career conditional appointment in the competitive service. This is an interdisciplinary Recent Graduate position that may be filed in any of the following series: GS-1315 or GS-0401 depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position requires a current valid driver's license.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Veterans (as defined in 5 USC 2108) who, due to military service obligation, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period described above have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty; however, this eligibility period cannot extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of the requirements of an academic course of study.
Throughout the program, individuals will participate in job assignments to develop competencies and to enhance their career goals.
PROMOTION: If this position is filled at the GS-07 grade level, subsequent promotion to the next higher grade level is permissible without further competition. Promotion is not guaranteed or promised but dependent upon administrative approval and the agency’s continuing need for an actual assignment and performance at the higher level duties.
CONVERSION: After successful completion of all program requirements, the Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent or term position in the competitive service but conversion is neither guaranteed or promised.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-1315, HYDROLOGIST:
1. Degree: physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics. Calculus and physics, as described above, are requirements for all grade levels.

2. Combination of education and experience: course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Acceptable experience must have included performance of scientific functions related to the study of water resources, based on and requiring a professional knowledge of related sciences and the consistent application of basic scientific principles to the solution of theoretical and practical hydrologic problems.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-0401, NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT:
1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the educational requirements above:
GS-07: In order to qualify for the GS-07 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of full time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level OR 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement.
Specialized Experience for GS-07: experience collecting, measuring, analyzing, or interpreting water resource data and preparing reports on the data.
GS-09: In order to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of full time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
Specialized Experience for GS-09: experience applying water resource data to studies related to water supply, agricultural, or environmental issues; performing hydrologic research on water and water resources; AND collecting, measuring, analyzing, and interpreting water resources data.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
