CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IDAHO AIR NATIONAL GUARD OR THOSE ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP.
This position is located in the Operations Section of a Base Communications Unit. This position serves as the Operations Section supervisor and a senior Information Technology (IT) specialist. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of supervisory functions providing administrative control and technical direction and oversight for subordinate personnel within the Section. Responsible for analyzing customer requirements and managing the systems administration, optimization, operational requirements and maintenance associated with the various local area/wide area networks (LAN/WAN), wireless systems, and voice systems utilized by both Wing and tenant organizations on the base. Manages customer IT requirements to meet operational, training, and readiness missions. Ensures viable training programs are developed for assigned functions.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of incumbents. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to incumbents on both work and administrative matters. Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. Hears and resolves complaints from incumbents, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager. Effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases. Identifies developmental and training needs of incumbents, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed. Develops performance standards.
Provides technical expertise and management oversight, in the installation, administration, optimization, and operation of multiple large and enhanced complex networks and communication systems.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
This series covers two-grade interval administers that manage, supervise, lead, administer, develop, deliver, and support information technology (IT) systems and services. This series covers only those positions for which the paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; e.g., data storage, software applications, networking.
Minimum Requirements: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
Information Assurance Certification may be a condition of employment. This position could include information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position may be required to achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience -A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted for 6 months of specialized experience requirements. One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement may be substituted for 12 months of specialized experience requirements. A masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted for 24 months of specialized experience requirements. A Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted for 36 months of specialized experience requirements.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
