Schedules, organizes, and executes field and laboratory projects for detecting, identifying and evaluating forest pest/forest health protection problems. Resolves common administrative and safety concerns related to the project.
From a small fixed-wing aircraft, collects insect and disease damage information on GIS based computer programs and takes photographs to record forest damage and insects and pathogens.
Assists with development of reports and aerial survey results after higher graded employees have refined and verified the data and analyzed the results.
Responsible for effective working relationships with customers and meeting expectations of these customers about the services provide.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Forest Health Protection Aerial Survey Observer and Fixed Wing Flight Manager – Special Use Taskbook is required to be completed within 2 years of employment.
Completion of Interagency Aviation Training certification as a Fixed Wing Flight Manager-Special Use is required and must be obtained within 2 years of employment.
