At the GS-07 performance level, the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
This position is eligible for conversion to the competitive service upon completion of the Pathways Intern Program requirements. Upon conversion the full performance level of this position is GS-12. Conversion to the competitive service is not guaranteed; it is at the discretion of management. Additionally, promotions to the next grade level are not guaranteed; they are at the discretion of management.
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of Mexico OCS Region, Regional Field Operations. This position will be filled in one of the following sections: Technical Assessment Section; Decommissioning Support Section; Pipeline Section. Applicants must be able to work in the Jefferson, LA duty location throughout the duration of the Pathways Internship.
The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has determined that the duties of this position are not suitable for telework.
Salary Information: GS-04 $29,847-$38,798 per annum, GS-05 $33,394-$50,801 per annum, GS-07 $41,365-$62,922 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME POSITIONS: Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and climbing tall ladders during inspection of offshore oil and gas facilities; helicopter travel required. As defined by the BSEE Medical Standards Program, you will be required to pass a pre-placement medical examination as a condition of employment.
This is an opportunity under the Internship Program component of the Pathways Program. The Internship Program provides students enrolled in qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while concurrently being enrolled. Veteran's Preference is applicable under the Pathways Program.
· The United States Department of the Interior will announce Pathways Internship opportunities multiple times per year, with regard to demand.

GS-07 Qualification Requirements
In addition, to qualify for the GS-07 grade level you must have completed one (1) full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor’s degree.
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualification requirements, all students must meet the criteria defined below to meet the selective placement factor for this position.
GS-04: I am enrolled in one of the following engineering degree programs AND have completed 6 credit hours in the engineering program, to include Calculus and Physics: Petroleum Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering; or Chemical Engineering.
