As an NTE Intern, your major duties may include:
Eligibility Requirements
1) You MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment as follows: An individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (high school, college (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate) in a qualifying and accredited educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93–842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program. 2) GPA: Every semester, candidates must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.
One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study or 18 semester hours. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.

A. Education- In the Internship Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows:
Completion of 2 full academic years of graduate level education leading to a master’s degree or Master’s or equivalent graduate degree.

B. Experience: You may qualify with one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Producing accounting reconcilements, loan level accounting entries, reports, and/or audits which are relied on in part or in whole to produce daily, monthly, or other periodic financial statements; AND
Experience researching accounting, collection, disbursement, and other financial and fiscal issues that require in-depth analysis, interpreting regulations from several sources and preparing written responses or recommendations.

C. You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must meet the following requirements:

Processing and validating accounting transactions, including disbursements, reconciliations and repayments; AND
Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing accounting data in support of accounting conclusions.

One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
