The Regional Director provides overall management of the programs and projects assigned to the Upper Colorado – Basin Region. The incumbent’s responsibility relates to the judicious management of water, power delivery, and related natural resources.
The Regional Director will provide leadership to the Region which encompasses Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. The Upper Colorado – Basin Region is involved in a wide variety of issues, programs, partnerships, and activities that reflect Reclamation's mission as a manager, developer, and protector of water and related resources. Some of these programs and activities include endangered species protection and recovery, water conservation, adaptive management of Glen Canyon Dam operations, water reclamation and reuse, water use efficiency improvements, dam safety, cultural resources, resources management and planning, water quality, assistance to Native American tribes and pueblos, and wetlands enhancement.
Under the guidance and leadership of the Regional Director, the staff works closely with state and local entities, Indian tribes, water and power constituents, environmental groups, and other Federal agencies to bring many benefits to communities and lands throughout the west and southwest.

--The maximum pay for individuals who have not previously held an SES position is $174,500 (EX-III). Current SES who earn more than $174,500 are eligible to be compensated up to $189,600 (EX-II).
