The Director for the Advanced Air Vehicles Program Office in the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate and is responsible for the overall planning, management and evaluation of the Directorate's fundamental aeronautics research efforts in the subsonic (fixed-wing and rotorcraft), supersonic and hypersonic flight regimes, as well as for managing the Advanced Air Vehicles Program Office at NASA
Headquarters. In addition, the Director supports the Associate Administrator in a broad range of Directorate
activities, including strategic and program planning; budget development and advocacy; program review and evaluation; and external coordination.
The incumbent is responsible for the managerial tasks in the programmatic and organizational area. Responsible for areas related to human resources management including selection of employees, assignment of duties, evaluation of employee performance, planning of employee training, and recommendation of awards, promotions, discipline and adverse actions. Determines evolving resource needs and allocations.
Formulates, prepares, and defends budget and manpower request to ensure that future objectives of the organization can be obtained within allocated resources. Incumbent is responsible for compliance with occupational safety, health, environmental, and energy standards, orders, rules, and regulations applicable to the area of responsibility. Creates an atmosphere of safety consciousness within the workplace and ensures safe work practices in a safe work environment. The incumbent promotes equal opportunity diversity in the
