Open to all U.S. Citizens. Primary consideration will be given to current, permanent employees of VA- Southern Oregon Rehabiliation Center & Clinics (VA-SORCC).
The Medical Director will report administratively to the Chief of MHRRTP (Social Worker) with clinical oversight by the Associate Chiefs of Staff of Mental Health and Primary Care. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with the Chiefs of MHRRTP, Pharmacy, and Psychiatric Services, Nurse Manager and the Admissions Supervisor to coordinate all aspects of medical care for the residential Veteran.
This position will have 50% protected time for administrative duties and 50% clinical time for direct patient care of residential Veterans. On-Call responsibilities are optional. Each week of home phone-call earns an additional day of paid leave (vacation) time.
The MHRRTP is a 255-bed residential rehabilitation center for Veterans with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and/or homelessness. Our program is Veteran-centric, offering individualized programming and lengths of stay. The facility is not connected to a hospital, emergency room or urgent care. Veterans with acute or complex medical problems that cannot be appropriately treated as an outpatient are not admitted to the program. The MHRRTP is part of the larger VA SORCC Mental Health Service Line, which offers extensive outpatient services including Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI), Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP), the Medication Assisted Treatment Program for Opioid Use Disorders, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (PRRC), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Clinic, Substance Use Disorders Clinic, Neuropsychology, Social Work Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. The VA SORCC Mental Health Service Line is a family-friendly department that values the well-being of our staff. Teaching opportunities for medical students, nurse practitioner students, and physician assistant students are available.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Subject to change based on the needs of the program. The option to work alternative schedules to accommodate evenings and weekends may be considered as the outpatient program expands to increase clinic access to veterans.
