Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution; veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, have as much as six years after degree completion to apply.
The Recent Graduate Program is a new program that provides employment opportunities for recent graduates and individuals who obtained certificates from qualified educational institutions or programs. The program enables individuals to explore Federal civil service employment at the beginning of their careers; and engages them at the onset of their work lives, before their career path are fully established. The program duration is one year. Upon successful completion of the program and at the agency's discretion, the appointee may be converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service.
This position operates within the Division of Food Defense Targeting (DFDT). (DFDT) operates on a 24 hour per day, 3 shifts, per day; 7 days per week schedule. The incumbent selected for this vacancy may be assigned to either the 2nd shift 7:00am to 3:00pm or 3rd shift 3:00pm to 11:00pm, but the incumbent must be willing to work overtime and rotating shifts, if operationally necessary. In addition, incumbents assess and evaluate sensitive information related to national security that requires obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance.

The employee will research, identify, and report risks related to prior notice information by navigating and extracting information from national data/information systems, both from within FDA and from law enforcement systems outside the Agency to determine if individuals or companies related to the importation of food products may pose terrorist threat or a significant health risk to the US food/feed supply.
At the GS-09 (Trainee), major duties include:
The employee will research, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, assess and report risks related to prior notice information by navigating and extracting information from national data/information systems, both from within FDA and from law enforcement systems outside the Agency, to determine if individuals or companies related to the importation of food products may pose terrorist threat or a significant health risk to the US food/feed supply. Additionally, the employee will initiate the process to secure, quarantine, examine, and/or sample shipments identified as a potential risk.
Additional selections may be made within the same geographical area in Food and Drug Administration.
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident is required for this appointment.
