This position is a Permanent Career-Seasonal position and is subject to release & recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all of the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. The selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for the park is from April to September, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. The non pay time would be annually November or December.
This position is located in Cornish NH within the Division of Administrative and Business Services at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, and will support Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park, Springfield Armory National Historic Site, Coltsville National Historic Park, and the Stewardship Institute. The incumbent will independently perform various duties within the administrative and business services arena. Incumbent will service as the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site Office Manager, and be the primary Accounts Payable person for all the units. Incumbent will also support other key areas including but not limited to payroll, property, and contracting.
Saint-Gaudens NHS, New Hampshire's only national park consists of 148 acres including the home (Aspet), gardens, and studios of Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907). As one of America's foremost sculptors, he is best known for his public monuments including the Sherman and Farragut monuments in New York City, the Shaw Memorial in Boston, MA, the Standing and Seated Lincoln Memorials in Chicago, IL, as well as the 1907 ten and twenty dollar gold coins and over 100 portrait reliefs. Aspet was his summer residence from 1885-1897, and his permanent home from 1900 until his death in 1907. In partnership with the Saint-Gaudens Memorial, the site promotes the arts through exhibitions, special events, and programs as a living tribute to the sculptor. Located in Cornish, New Hampshire, the site is one of only two national parks dedicated to a visual artist. There are two hiking trails that explore the park's natural areas.
