Come Join Our Team of Chaplains who provide a complete range of spiritual care ministries to Veterans and their families. Such ministry encompasses all aspects of pastoral care, assuring that the religious, spiritual, moral and ethical issues faced by Veterans are addressed as part of the holistic care provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Chaplains work in an interfaith environment as members of a pluralistic chaplaincy.
The Chaplain has full responsibility for providing a complete religious ministry to Roman Catholic Veteran patients and their families. The Chaplain assesses religious, spiritual, moral, and ethical problems and plans and provides appropriate ministration, including individual in-depth pastoral ministry to Veteran patients and their families.
For Intermittent Jobs: The position has no regularly scheduled tour. The chaplain will be contacted to work when needed.

Incumbent will provide a well-rounded religious ministry for veteran patients and members to participate in the total care program of the hospital with other professional and non-professional individuals and services. Also, to interpret the
purpose and mission of the hospital, as appropriate, to the religious and civic community.
The chaplain provides a pastoral ministry to patients of various faith groups through initial visits to newly admitted patients, conscientious attention to the spiritual needs of patients in crisis situations, and regular pastoral care of hospitalized veterans. The incumbent understands and is able to respond to the particular concerns and issues pertaining to the treatment of Veterans. Provides guidance and religious instruction, as appropriate, to individuals or groups. Arranges and conducts regular weekly religious worship services and when required, provides "ward services" for those unable to attend stated chapel services.
Devotes much of his/her time to the pastoral counseling of individual patients, looking to the solution of personal problems. Gives all necessary attention to the needs of relatives of patients, especially at times of crisis. Participates, as appropriate, in the consideration of patients' problems with other professional and non-professional personnel in the hospital and maintains a cooperative relationship with these allied services in the interest of patient care. Maintains a cooperative relationship with individuals and groups in the community to win assistance in the religious program of the hospital, as well as to gain acceptance of the mission of the total hospital program. Will perform call-backs, funerals and other duties as assigned.
Further, the chaplain is assigned the authority to initiate needed action to provide for and maintain religious facilities, equipment and supplies to evaluate the need for volunteer assistance in the religious program and to exercise appropriate supervision of volunteers used in the program; to arrange for the procurement and distribution of appropriate religious literature to support and enhance the religious program, and to maintain records of ministry for reporting purposes.
