You will serve as a Highway Safety Specialist (EMS Specialist) in the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS), Research and Program Development (RPD)and report to the Office Director. The Office has national responsibility for developing, promoting, implementing, and evaluating new programs, providing technical assistance, guidance and support, and coordinating program activities relative to comprehensive Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system development, comprehensive national 911 program development, the National EMS Information System(NEMSIS), statewide EMS systems, EMS evidence-based treatment and system guidelines, EMS research, and national EMS education standards. The Office is also responsible for administration and support of the Federal Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services (FICEMS) and for the statutorily created National EMS Advisory Council (NEMSAC).
IDEAL CANDIDATE: NHTSA is looking for an experienced Highway Safety Specialist to conceptualize, develop, manage, and oversee projects of national significance to improve emergency medical services and emergency health care including those that implement projects that demonstrate successful strategies for enhancing 911, the collection and strategic analysis of emergency medical services and 911 data which result in improved EMS, 911, highway safety and pre-hospital health care systems throughout the nation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the use of date for policy making and influencing public opinion. The must also have knowledge in current EMS clinical and systems literature and 911 systemic operations.
