DUTY LOCATION: This position will be held in one of six locations: Austin, TX; Birmingham, AL; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; or Washington, DC.
The purpose of the position is to develop and or analyze procedures and systems for Identifying and assessing, mitigating and evaluating the effectiveness of risk management within Information Technology enterprise risk management compliance is evaluated as it relates to both IT and traditional programs through the identification and assessment, mitigation and evaluation process. This is accomplished through an intense control reviews and analysis.
The employee is responsible for risk management assessments, mitigation and evaluations in support of the Veterans Affairs massive Information Technology Networks. The employee will consolidate, analyze and interpret data to identify isolated
systemic problems, best practices and provide feedback based on Federal regulations, VA policies, OIT and QPR guidance while taking into consideration industry standards.
The employee will review and determine the overall effectiveness of the Veterans Affairs Risk Management Program within designated Veterans Affairs facilities. The employee will be assigned to one team with in QPR. Responsibility may include duties outside of the continual United States areas such as Hawaii, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the Philippines. The assessments results may impact risk management programs Veterans Affairs-wide.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the independent review and analysis of risk management data from multiple data sources to identify risks, systemic problems and to determine the quality and appropriateness of risk management. Determines if further assessment is required and selects the avenue of further analysis to achieve a definite resolution. Performs quality risk management activities which are designed to improve the quality of business processes and procedures and improve the overall safety and security of the enterprise.
The employee evaluates, and inspects software and/or hardware intended to ensure that automated systems are secure from unauthorized use, viral infection, and other problems that would compromise information, confidentiality or privacy of data, or other aspects of overall information technology system security.
The employee evaluates new security authentication technologies such as public key infrastructure certificates, secure cards, Physical Access Control Systems and biometrics to ensure that they are up to compliance and recommends the acquisition of, implementation, and dissemination of information technology risk management tools, procedures, and practices to protect information technology assets.
Develops procedures and systems for identifying, assessing, mitigating and evaluation the effectiveness of major administrative and technical information technology risk management controls at designated facilities and Veterans Affairs-wide. Develops and disseminates informational material to a wide range of agency stakeholders Veterans Affairs-wide. Develops written materials that transmit information concerning the nature and purpose of the inspected organization's programs, projects, and/or areas of concern.
