This position is located in the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration, Office of Nonproliferation and Treaty Compliance. The Treaty Compliance Division performs or supports the following policy and technical activities: represents the Department in the interagency process to implement the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), the Additional Protocol to the U.S. – IAEA Nuclear Safeguards Agreement (AP), and the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), including: review/analyze industry submissions (e.g., declarations, reports, chemical determination requests); review/analyze interagency and intergovernmental proposed measures to implement or strengthen the CWC, AP or BWC and; management of inspections of U.S. industry by international inspectors, per the relevant treaty.
The initial and primary selection(s) of candidates referred to management will be used to fill vacancies in BIS, Office of Nonproliferation and Treaty Compliance.
Thereafter, managers within the various business units of BIS may consider and utilize the certificate with the remaining referred candidates to fill vacancies within their business units. The business units are in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration.
