The National Security Division (NSD) of the Department of Justice executes the Department's highest priority to combat terrorism and other threats to national security. The NSD, which consolidates the Department's primary national security elements within a single Division, currently consists of the Office of Intelligence, Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence and Export Control Section and the Office of Law and Policy. The Chief, Counterintelligence, Export Control and Economic Espionage (Chief) of the Counterintelligence and Export Control Section (CES), National Security Division, exercises full responsibility for carrying out all policy, programmatic, and managerial matters assigned or required to assure effective and efficient investigative and intelligence related oversight in the Section. This section has the responsibility for enforcement of the criminal provisions of the Atomic Energy Act, the Trading with the Enemy Act, the Arms Export Control Act, the Espionage Act, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, and the Administration of the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA).
