EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
This position will be filled under the Pathways Internship Program. This Program allows students to gain paid work experience while pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate at a qualifying institution. Under the Pathways Program, students who successfully complete all work, study, qualifications, and other eligibility requirements may be offered a permanent position with our agency upon graduation or completion of a qualifying certificate. At the Agency's discretion, students hired under the Pathways Program may be extended beyond 9/1/2018 and/or non-competitively converted to a term, career, or career-conditional appointment with a Full Performance Level (FPL) of GS-11, GS-12, or GS-13 (FPL varies based on the hiring department). Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that the agency will decide to opt for conversion.
