This position functions as a Lead Pharmacy Technician in the VISN 23 VA Black Hills Call Center (BHHCS) Call Center. The Call Center provides virtual services to all Black Hills Regional/VISN 23 Consolidated Call Center outpatient pharmacy departments during normal business hours. The Pharmacy Call Center assists patients in the VISN 23 service area with prescription refills, clinical pharmacist extension requests, medication hold, and tracking of mailed medication, formulary information, pill identification, address changes and triage for the local pharmacy departments. The Lead Pharmacy Technician serves as second tier support to front line staff by managing difficult customer service issues, complex pharmacy cases, and/or extensive coordinated care with Outpatient Pharmacy departments. The Lead position is critical to meet performance expectations as described in the SAIL Report, VHA Directive 2007-033 "Telephone Service for Clinical Care" and VHA Support Services Center (VSSC), objectives and expectations, as this position has influence in increasing front-line call turnover, thereby reducing abandoned call activity.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting. There may be some walking, standing, twisting, turning, sitting, pushing, bending, repetitive keyboarding, or carrying of light items. Some positions may require sitting for long periods of time at a computer terminal typing data while talking on a telephone headset.
