As a Fuel Distribution System Worker, WG-5413-08 you will:
1) Inspect, operate and maintain a complete fuels distribution system(s) to receive, store, transfer and issue both aviation and ground fuels. Inspect systems for leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and inoperative components such as distribution lines, storage tanks, hydrant pits/outlets, oil/water separator, pumps, automatic/manual valves, meters, and system control rooms. Perform operator maintenance to include checking components for operation, adjustment, pressures, and external leakage under pressure, removing/cleaning/inspecting receipt and dispensing strainers, calibrating additive injectors, draining water from lines, tanks, filter separator vessels and dike/containment areas. Report more extensive repairs/needs. Receive and transfer fuel by coupling and uncoupling hoses, closing and opening valves, starting and stopping pumps, monitoring gauges, meters and filter separators. Maintain hazardous waste management program. Initiates emergency procedures as necessary.
2) Operates one or more types of special purpose aviation and ground fuel tank vehicles having a capacity of up to 6,000 gallons and gross weight of 70,000 pounds, that are used for fueling/defueling various types of aircraft and ground fuels applications such as AGE, power production, heating and engine test cells. Transports fuel from the bulk storage area to the flight-line issue point. Positions the vehicle for the refueling/defueling task required. Monitors vehicle mounted main control panel, gauges, meters and instruments. Operates deadman control safety system as required, coordinates with personnel at the aircraft or receiving point. Exercises safety precautions during fueling/defueling operations. Performs operator maintenance and safety checks to ensure that refueling equipment is safe and operational.
3) Operate, inspect and perform all required maintenance and repair on 400-5,000 gallon cryogenic storage tanks. Inspect, maintain, perform operator maintenance, and minor repairs to support equipment and cryogenic samplers to include the following: air purging units, vacuum gauges, vacuum pumps, portable efficiency meters, portable samplers and other support equipment that is required to maintain the cryogenic storage tank in a ready condition to receive, store and transfer LOX or LIN. Apply safety or precautionary procedures required in handling cryogenic fluids. Analyze, isolates, and corrects system malfunctions. Perform preventive maintenance on components and tanks, to include inspections. This includes routine maintenance/servicing of components such as compressors, safety valves, hand operated valves, pressure disks, filter/strainer assemblies, gauges, and various moving mechanical parts by disassembling, cleaning, accomplishing minor repairing or adjusting, and reassembling components. Ensure that parts are cleaned and certified as suitable for oxygen/nitrogen servicing. Purge and maintains insulating vacuum on tanks as required by technical orders or product testing results. Maintain inspection and maintenance records and performs quality control of cryogenic products.
4) Performs required fuel quality control testing in fuels laboratory. Operates precision measurement equipment to measure effectiveness of mechanical, hydrant and mobile refueling facilities and vehicles. Determines Fuel System Icing Inhibitor (FSII), conductivity additive, American Petroleum Institute (API) gravity, color, particulate, filtration time, fiber, sulfide, total solids, odor and microscopic analysis. Samples fuel systems and dispensing equipment at required intervals for existence of water by Aeronautical Engine Laboratory (AEL) methods and sediment by Particulate Assessment Guide (PAG) method. Prepares samples for shipment to area laboratories.
5) Performs accounting transactions pertaining to requisitioning, procuring, scheduling, ordering, reporting and document preparation for aviation fuels, ground fuels and missile propellant transactions in the automated fuels data system.
6) Plans, monitors and conducts On-The-Job Training (OJT) for assigned drill status guardsmen and maintains required records.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Mandatory knowledge education and experience of AFI 36-2101 must be met.
Normal color vision and physical profile of P1, H1, E2 and S2 is mandatory. Minimum aptitude score of "44" in MECH, and "39" in ELEC is mandatory.
