INTRODUCTION: This position is located in the Army National Guard (ARNG) STARC Headquarters, Aviation and Safety Office (Model A) / Safety and Occupational Health Office (Model B), Ground Safety Section. As a SAFETY SPECIALIST, GS-0018-9/11, you will implement plans, policies and procedures to comply with DOD, DA, OSHA and NGB safety regulations and directives. Plan and conduct periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of all ARNG facilities to determine compliance with OSHA standards. Serve as a technical representative to State Safety Councils and Committees. Evaluate the effectiveness of organizational safety programs through activity visits. Coordinate with operating activities to provide safety training, and ensure safety awareness throughout the ARNG. Provide technical assistance in accident investigations. Collect, review and ensure timely submission of all accident reports to the DA Safety Center and ARNG Safety Office. Prepare state safety standards for local implementation, write regulations and prepare safety articles for state publications. Present safety budget requirements with justifications to superiors in support of the statewide ARNG safety program.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
