As a CONTRACT SPECIALIST, GS-1102:
GS-07 INTRODUCTION: The primary purpose of this position is to perform developmental assignments which are designed to provide the incumbent, who is serving in a trainee capacity, in the application of common contracting methods and contract types, and to assist in the procurement of standard or specialized service; supply; and/or construction items, services, and/or materials primarily through formal advertising, or through limited use of negotiation techniques. Noncompetitive promotion to the next higher grade level is dependent upon: 1) satisfactory completion of the training requirements, 2) demonstrated ability to perform the duties at the next higher grade level, 3) fulfillment of all OPM legal and regulatory requirements for promotion, and 4) recommendation for promotion by the supervisor.
GS-07 MAJOR DUTIES:
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
The Selected applicant must complete an "I-9, Employment Verification" and a "Declaration of Relatives in the Wyoming Military Department" prior to the appointment date.
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.
Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives.
Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
Relocation expenses will not be paid by the Government unless noted in the Announcement.
Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a Technician.
Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
To qualify for GS-1102 positions on the basis of completed graduate education, the graduate education must be in one of -or- be a combination of the following required disciplines: Accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management; or, one full academic year of graduate law school, or superior academic achievement in a law school program.
