This position is a full-time term appointment not to exceed 2 years. Term appointments may be extended up to 4 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
The selectee for this position will serve as a Protocol Assistant in the Protocol, Commander Joint Region Marianas of COMMANDER NAVY REGION MARIANAS.

First priority consideration will be given to preference eligible veterans.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
Must be able to obtain a Secret interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
May be required to work unusual hours or long hours with short notice, this includes weekends and holidays as required. Employee will be required to work flexible hours and extensive overtime, which cannot be forecasted in advance.
Employee in-office work is generally sedentary. Requires carrying light objects such as files, books and papers. Also may be required to run office errands.
When assigned to visitor escort duty, employee may be required to climb aircraft carrier brow platform ladders as well as typical ship ladders. Required to be capable of walking unimpeded for a minimum of 200 yards without a break. Additionally, employee may be required to carry luggage weighing up to 50 pounds between aircraft, vehicles and DV quarters.
Necessary travel to other activities, escorting dignitaries to ships and commands, and supervising dry runs to naval facilities with designated drivers.
The employee works in an adequately lighted and ventilated office environment. Work includes the normal risks and discomforts typical of offices or meeting rooms. May require occasional travel. Outdoor activities will occur in the course of preparing for and executing visits, including going aboard ships and aircraft as well as traveling to other commands.
Visitor escort duties may be performed anywhere as required.
For those applicants located outside of the commuting area, a service agreement may be negotiated in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulation and applicable Department of the Navy policies.
