The incumbent will work for the Chief Accountant of the Fiscal Department at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. This is a developmental position designed to prepare candidates for work in the Accounting field. Candidates must be knowledgeable of professional concepts and methodologies as well as be knowledgeable in functional program characteristics and requirements.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Physical Requirements: No special physical requirements are required for this position. The incumbent works primarily in an office setting. The incumbent must be able to focus on computer screens and input data for extended periods of time. The incumbent will occasionally travel to conference and training, and must be mobile around the medical center. Work may consist of extended hours and lengthy periods of concentration.

Recent Graduate Program: You must be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years a qualifying degree. Veterans (as defined in 5 USC 2108) who, due to military service obligation, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period described above have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty; however, this eligibility period cannot extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of the requirements of an academic course of study.
Basic Requirements: Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.)

Applicants must show successful completion of one (1) year of graduate education leading to a Master's degree. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
