About the Position:
Typical office environment in the largest U.S. military medical center, located in the office of Assistant Chief of Staff. Incumbent will be expected to serve as project manager and technical advisor with functional responsibility for subordinate patient safety services at the medical treatment facility. Performs project management, planning, quality assurance, policy implementation in activities consistent with health care services delivery models.

Serves as the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) program manager in the establishment and maintenance of patient safety programs, incorporating extensive knowledge of professional nursing programs and guidelines. Implements modification to existing procedures and develops new and innovate policies to improve patient safety. Functional project manager for implementation of national patient safety goals (NPSG) and other initiatives, identified through adverse event reporting and data analysis. Nursing consultant, communicating with technical and professional personnel from all services concerning TeamSTEPPS team training program, root cause analysis review, sentinel event reporting, data quality, and data applicability concerns. Researches and analyzes patient safety data reports and resolves system issues. Advises MTF patient safety staff and command leadership on sentinel event root cause analysis (RCA) concerns, clinical reviews, and patient safety issues. Responsible for navigation of TAPROOT Software Root Cause Analysis, TEAM Stepps, CHCS, ALHTA, ESSENTRIS, DOD Patient Safety Reporting System and Microsoft Office Suite programs: e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Supervises education and training programs related to patient safety via hospital and command orientation activities. Assures reasonable equity of individual employee performance objectives, standards and ratings among subordinate organizations. Recommend performance awards and salary/bonus distribution for subordinate employees. Makes or approves selections for subordinate non-supervisory positions and recommends selections for subordinate supervisory positions. Hears and resolves group grievances or serious employee complaints.
