This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Major Duties:
- Apply principles and theories of engineering, science, or mathematics to improve the intelligence tasking, processing, exploitation, and dissemination associated with measurement and signature intelligence data.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the diverse sensor portfolio, to include knowledge of sensor capabilities, the requirements process, mission planning, data processing, event analysis, and product dissemination.
- Create and implement an approach to integrate and optimize the tasking and mission planning functions across the sensor portfolio with the goal of improving the ability to respond to validated requirements with limited resources.
- Design an overall architecture to improve the processing, exploitation, dissemination of intelligence products resulting from technical sensor data.
- Identify training requirements and design training programs for intelligence engineers and analyst support data analysis.
- Evaluate new approaches and analysis techniques by employing judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to advance the state-of-the-art of data analysis and exploitation.
- Review and evaluate proposals or initiatives from contractors for modifying or enhancing the efficiency or effectiveness of data processing or analysis tools and methodologies.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.
DoD Components with DCIPS positions apply Veterans' Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 USC, in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement. Additional Conditions of Employment:
1. Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
2. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Failure to comply with any of the special requirements, when required, will subject the incumbent of this position to reassignment or disciplinary adverse action, including demotion or removal.
3. The position requires availability for short notice work on weekends, holidays, and evenings. Flexibility in adjusting scheduled workday is mandatory.
4. Periodic travel within and outside CONUS is required, and incumbent may be required to travel by military and commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration, written test, specified academic courses or related curriculum.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect quality level experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Quality experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the Scientist and Engineer field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is General Engineer.
