Minimum hourly salary for Sonoma Lake is $15.05 and maximum is $24.57.

Serves as a Park Ranger assisting higher graded ranger staff with the routine day-to-day duties required to operate and maintain the recreational facility to which the employee is assigned. Routine duties include assisting visitors, answering questions, providing assistance with interpretive programs (i.e. guided tours, instructional briefings, etc.), inputting and retrieving data from agency databases, and assisting with park management programs (i.e. planting of trees and ground cover, maintenance of park signs, and the cleaning of debris and liter).

Experience required:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience (for the 04 and 05) and 9 total months of experience for the 03 which prepared you to do the work in this job. Experience is defined as:
GS-0025-03: Must have 3 months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-02 grade level and 6 months general experience. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting in a park visitor center, maintaining supplies and providing general park information.
GS-0025-04: Must have 6 months specialized experience and 6 months general experience. Specialized experience is defined as conducting simple hikes or tours, providing general park information to visitors and inspecting the recreational area.
General experience for the GS-03 and GS-04 levels is defined as administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work that provided a familiarity with natural or cultural history; fish or wildlife habitat characteristics; techniques of resource protection and use; recreational use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in dealing with the general public. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or trades and crafts work is also qualifying if pertinent to the position to be filled. Experience of a routine nature, such as typing, filing, maintaining records, or other nonspecialized tasks is not qualifying.
GS-0025-05: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level, answering visitor questions pertaining to park rules, fire safety and patrolling recreational areas.
