Physician - Psychiatrist The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS, a major affiliate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, is seeking a full time Psychiatrist staff physician. Duties include, but are not limited to, the psychiatric assessment and treatment of inpatients and outpatients, consultative evaluations, and, if necessary, basic medical assessment of psychiatric patients. The physician is able to care for Veterans with a variety of mental disorders, including mood, psychotic, anxiety, trauma-related, cognitive and others as defined in the current versions of the Internal Classification of Disease (ICD) or Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)..
The VAMC in Jackson is a 140 bed acute care hospital with an attached 86 bed community living center which includes hospice and palliative care. On the physical campus of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, most staff have faculty appointments with ample opportunity to teach medical students and residents.
The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center receives patients from a wide geographic area to include Louisiana and Florida for primary and tertiary care and has primary health care responsibility for over 45,000 veterans.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; work schedules may vary depending on the needs of the service (also rotational weekend and night call).
